Majestic Garden

Majestic Garden, situated in the heart of Shanghai's Huangpu Old City Center, is a low-density courtyard villa development co-created by Nanfang Group and China Resources Land. The project comprises 103 "one home, one garden" residences, integrating three distinctive values: a central urban location, pure courtyard architecture, and a historic cultural setting.

For its residential club, Andre Fu was invited to interpret Shanghai's heritage through a contemporary lens. He blended the historical memory of the old city center with Shikumen architectural motifs and an international aesthetic, instilling the space with warmth and depth. The preserved street network and returning pathways connect residents to history, while the interiors provide a tranquil retreat that balances cultural legacy with modern comfort—offering an urban sanctuary for the elite that is both rooted in place and connected to the world.

Design as a Bridge: Evolving Shanghai's Heritage

Andre Fu's design moves beyond style to engage with the spirit of place. He transforms the urban memory of Shikumen and narrow lanes into an immersive spatial experience. A sequenced passage, inspired by the Shikumen arch, guides residents through a journey from past to present. Here, cultural continuity becomes not symbolic replication, but an emotional resonance woven into the rituals of homecoming and daily life.

Quiet Luxury, Eastern Essence

This project redefines luxury beyond material abundance, centering instead on heritage and lifestyle. Andre Fu cultivates a restrained yet rich aesthetic, building an enveloping backdrop from earthy tones, warm wood, and muted metal. Deep "celadon blue," drawn from Eastern landscape painting, animates the space as an accent. From the private lounge's retro-bar social scene to the relaxation of the Bulgari-blue marble pool, each detail serves the tastes and lifestyles of elite residents—expressing a timeless elegance and dignity.
