This building has been designed by a renowned architectural practice based in Taiwan, which has international training and is guided by an urban architectural perspective. The design integrates site conditions and spatial typologies as core principles, establishing a refreshed architectural language for contemporary congregate housing.
The main structural system consists of reinforced concrete columns, beams, and slabs, combined with a precisely engineered high-strength concrete mix to create a robust and enduring framework. The exterior material strategy features an elegant white coating that serves as a refined backdrop, highlighting the interaction between the architectural form and light. This surface subtly reflects the changing hues of the surrounding fields throughout the seasons. Adding to this aesthetic, brown-grey washed aggregate exterior walls introduce textural contrast and tonal depth. Variations in material granularity and brightness articulate the building’s volumetric hierarchy while responding to the local climate through energy-conscious and sustainable design practices. Together, these elements convey a distinct architectural identity—where art originates from nature, creating a poetic dialogue between the central fields and the essence of beauty.
The spatial configuration is designed to create flexible living environments that can adapt to changing residential patterns. Irregularly projecting frames define the façade with a refined rhythmic order, making the building appear more precise and streamlined. The landscape strategy aims to soften architectural boundaries while reducing solar exposure and thermal load. By integrating greenery and allowing for the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, the architecture achieves a harmonious balance with its surroundings. Additionally, the building features a gently folded, multi-layered wall system that incorporates wild, field-inspired planting, which is distinct from traditional courtyard landscapes. This approach fosters a holistic harmony between functionality, environment, and architectural expression.
Surrounded by farmland on all sides, the site offers expansive views toward the Feifeng Mountain hills, creating a transition between the natural landscape and the urban environment. The design is grounded in microclimate analysis and incorporates simulations of solar exposure and prevailing wind patterns to inform the building's massing and orientation, ensuring optimal daylight access and natural ventilation throughout the year.
