About The Entry

Nestled within the sacred mists of Qingcheng Mountain—a site revered for over two millennia as a cradle of Taoism—this residence proposes a harmonious dialogue between ancient geology and futuristic form. Located southwest of Dujiangyan City, the project draws direct inspiration from the ephemeral nature of the mountain clouds that define the region's atmosphere.

The architecture manifests as a single, continuous ribbon of white, defying the weight of traditional construction. Rather than dominating the rugged topography, the structure appears to hover lightly above the terrain, its aerodynamic geometry echoing the sweeping winds of the valley. The free-formed massing is achieved through a sophisticated steel grid shell structure encased in reinforced concrete, allowing for a fluid transition between the roof, walls, and floor slabs.

Inside, the design dissolves the boundaries of conventional living. The interior experience is defined by a "flow of curves" that guides inhabitants through a gallery-like sequence of spaces. A central, sculptural spiral ramp acts as the spiritual core of the home, connecting the levels with a sense of weightlessness.

The layout seamlessly encloses a living and dining area, a private art gallery, and a heated indoor swimming pool that reflects the curvilinear ceiling. Expansive, curved double-glazing wraps the facade, transforming the spectacular scenery of the Chengdu plain into a living mural. The journey concludes at a vast cantilevered terrace, a platform that thrusts out into the void, inviting residents to stand amidst the mist and experience the Taoist philosophy of unity with nature.
