This design transforms a banquet hall into a spatial waltz set upon an abstracted checkerboard, inspired by the spirit of travel and adventure embodied in Louis Vuitton’s Damier motif. Rather than a conventional event space, it becomes a grand game where visitors act as participants stepping into a geometric universe governed by rules yet filled with infinite possibilities.

The spatial experience begins with a reimagined chessboard geometry. The black-and-white grid of the floor is deconstructed and reassembled into rising planes that echo the luminous cube modules suspended above. The ceiling mirrors the floor in a three-dimensional dialogue, dissolving traditional boundaries and creating a unified spatial cosmos. Existing structural beams and columns from the building’s industrial origins are integrated through three-dimensional square frames, allowing the inherent framework to dissolve into a cohesive geometric language.

Light plays the role of an invisible strategist. Intelligent dot-matrix illumination highlights specific “squares,” while hundreds of suspended panels shift, float, or reconfigure through digital control. As the banquet evolves from reception to celebration, light manipulates spatial rhythm, continually adjusting openness, hierarchy, and intimacy. The interplay of brightness and shadow constructs a perpetual game of illusion and reality.

Material expression deepens the narrative. Embossed leather flooring and custom carpets reinterpret classic textures with subtle refinement. Perforated panels and mirrored metal lines draw sharp contours reminiscent of a contemporary chessboard. Crystal and wood act as deliberate counterpoints—unexpected yet harmonious moves that introduce warmth and tactile richness within the strict geometric order.

The overarching design philosophy embraces freedom within structure. By imposing the checkerboard as the absolute rule, the space unlocks countless permutations of movement, interaction, and transformation. It simultaneously pays tribute to a classic motif and ventures into avant-garde spatial experimentation. Here, every guest becomes a traveler, each step a strategic move, and every encounter a new chapter unfolding within an ever-shifting game.
