As China's mega-scale urban data visualization pavilion, Taizhou Digital Pavilion creates immersive digital spatial experiences centered around three core missions: offshore marine ecological protection, flood and typhoon prevention, and cultural tourism promotion. The design transforms complex datasets, including marine ecosystem monitoring, meteorological warning systems, and tourism resource distribution, into interactive dynamic visual art, enabling the public to deeply understand, participate in, and support urban governance and sustainable development.
Located on China's eastern coastline, Taizhou is renowned as a coastal city and popular tourist destination. A primary objective of this immersive digital exhibition is to help the public better comprehend the government's substantial efforts and achievements in offshore environmental protection and disaster prevention, particularly specific practices in marine conservation. Simultaneously, the pavilion aims to encourage public participation in environmental initiatives while promoting Taizhou's rich tourism resources to broader audiences.
The grand wave animation in the entrance hall immediately reveals Taizhou's maritime identity to visitors. In the flood and typhoon prevention exhibition area, immersive spatial projections combine with contextual installations like the "Flood Prevention Deck" to transport visitors into authentic scenarios of Taizhou's harbor, fishing vessels, and approaching typhoons. The experience design breaks from traditional exhibition models by presenting all urban elements through digital twin technology, creating a comprehensive virtual replica of the city.
Operating on a public welfare basis, the pavilion offers free admission with both online reservations and on-site guided tours. The marine environmental protection zone visually demonstrates the complete marine waste recycling system established for port vessels, accompanied by real-time monitoring data. Through interactive waste recycling facilities, visitors personally experience the entire process, transforming abstract environmental concepts into tangible, participatory practices that effectively raise public awareness and responsibility.
Departing from traditional linear storytelling, the exhibition follows a "Perception-Understanding-Empathy" spatial flow. Beginning with an overall perception of Taizhou's urban character, visitors progressively deepen their understanding of flood prevention systems and port governance, before emotional engagement is stimulated through comprehensive displays and interactive installations. This spatial journey naturally completes visitors' cognitive comprehension of Taizhou's distinctive urban qualities, creating clear and memorable anchor points.
