About The Entry

BELL TOWER STREET, located in the historic and cultural district of Taiyuan, is China Resources Mixc Lifestyle’s first culture-themed commercial development. Specifically designed for the project, SCENERY WANDER takes the concept of “Cultural Warmth” as the core, naturally integrating the charming landscape of Shanxi—which carries a thousand years of cultural heritage—into modern urban living settings. By merging immersive environmental storytelling with experiential consumption, it creates a hub combining culture, tourism, and commerce, where visitors can perceive the essence of Shanxi’s culture while strolling through its streets, contributing to the organic growth and modern expression of culture in the soil of commerce.

The design, rooted in Taiyuan’s historical context, incorporates cultural symbols such as ancient trees, historic buildings, courtyards, and long-established local brands. These elements are reimagined in a modern manner under the narrative theme of “SCENERY WANDER.” Bamboo, a symbol of Eastern elegance and vitality, serves as the core element, running through the district in diverse forms like graphic patterns and bamboo weaving craftsmanship. For example, the shop rooftops showcase large-scale bamboo-woven Chinese knot installations, while glass facades are adorned with subtle bamboo leaf motifs, infusing the modern streetscape with natural serenity and artisanal warmth.

The color palette centers on earthy browns and wood tones, complemented by distressing techniques, resulting in a rich play of light and shadow against a simple, quaint background—redefining the aesthetic essence of Shanxi.

Moreover, the design prioritizes the harmonious fusion of modern expression and historic streetscape. Frames are crafted from bamboo, wood, metal, and steel-wood composites for a light, airy atmosphere. This approach, while achieving artistic elegance, minimizes interference with the original architectural textures and spatial order of historic buildings. All installations undergo treatments for corrosion resistance, waterproofing, and structural reinforcement, ensuring both long-term durability and user safety.
