Anchored in an elegant French cream aesthetic, this project employs soft curves and the strategic play of light to transcend the original structural constraints—namely, low ceilings, poor natural light, and a constricted layout. Rather than offering mere superficial fixes, the design reimagines the entire spatial narrative, creating a fluid, sophisticated, and warmly inviting modern sanctuary.
The interior alleviates the visual weight of the central air-conditioning ducts and the low ceiling height. Eschewing rigid, boxy drop ceilings, the design wraps the ducts in a sleek, curved bulkhead accented with hidden cove lighting, visually lifting the ceiling and softening the architectural lines. This motif of curvature flows throughout the public realm: the structural column that once awkwardly boxed in the living area is now clad in curved wood veneer, seamlessly transitioning into an open piano nook. By flipping the sofa’s orientation, the layout bypasses the column and frames an uninterrupted view of the balcony, creating an expansive, airy atmosphere.
This sense of openness extends into the kitchen and dining zone, with the partition boldly removed, flooding the space with natural light. The kitchen island is paired with a long dining table, creating an interactive hub perfect for frequent gatherings. To maintain a pristine, premium aesthetic, a U-shaped cabinetry system conceals all major appliances, including the fridge and steam oven, fostering a streamlined, clutter-free environment. Furthermore, to navigate the morning rush in the shared family bathroom, a flexible sliding door has been installed between the vanity and the wet areas. This allows the space to feel open when not in use, yet provides instant privacy and functional zoning when needed, perfectly balancing efficiency with comfort.
The pursuit of light and spatial freedom continues in the private quarters. In the master bedroom, the walls of the original walk-in closet are decisively demolished to eliminate shadows and let sunlight permeate the room, banishing its former gloom. The reconfigured layout now offers ample storage while reserving a sunny spot by the window for a desk and a lounge chair, carving out an intimate reading nook for moments of quiet retreat.
