Set amidst the misty charm of Glasgow, M Plus Matcha is more than a commercial interior; it is a cross-temporal dialogue between urban memory and Eastern aesthetics. The design honors Glasgow’s legacy by preserving its iconic red brick and black steel, using these industrial elements as the project’s structural "skeleton." This grit is balanced by the "soul" of Kyoto, where deep walnut tones and olive greens create a serene, warm sanctuary in the heart of the city.
The visual centerpiece is a layered, fluid green ceiling installation. Its undulating forms evoke both the rhythmic whisking of matcha and the rolling hills of Kyoto. This feature mirrors the intricate dark green marble flooring, infusing the space with vitality. To balance the coldness of the industrial structure, we introduced green linen-textured fabrics and refined wood-grain finishes. Bathed in warm light, these earthy textures and greens create the immersive feel of a forest at dusk, offering customers a moment of quiet healing.
This design is a spatial manifesto for the M Plus brand, seamlessly blending Glasgow’s industrial strength with the meditative spirit of Kyoto. Beyond its function as a tea house, M Plus Matcha serves as a vessel for culture and emotion. It offers a spiritual retreat for urban wanderers—a place to pause, breathe, and find a true sense of belonging.
