Moonwell Bar & Bistro

This vintage-style gastro-pub is situated in the heart of Taipei's commercial district. The building itself boasts a 26-year history, featuring an interior space of 155 square meters across two levels. The designer has preserved the original allure of the structure while infusing elements of gentlemanly elegance, continuing the unique charm of the historic edifice and exuding a nostalgic and refined ambiance.

The design philosophy centers on maintaining the authentic appearance of the space with minimal alterations, thereby accentuating its retro facade and original framework. The meticulously preserved and restored antique staircases, stone pedestals, iron railings, and terrazzo floors enhance the venue's nostalgic vintage charm. H-shaped steel beams are elegantly encased in wood veneer, and columns are adorned with curves to soften their mass and reduce any sense of oppression. The use of materials such as stone, wood, artificial stone, moldings, cement paint, and artistic finishes creates a harmonious retro environment through the skillful integration of old and new elements.

The selection of furnishings is pivotal in crafting the vintage nostalgic atmosphere. Carefully curated vintage furniture and accessories lend an air of elegance and sophistication to the space. The lighting fixtures, exquisite leather sofas, dining chairs, and the contrasting bar designs on the two floors perfectly complement each other.

This project retains the building's original character and incorporates vintage elements, showcasing both spatial aesthetics and cultural sentiments.
