The Ag’s Wood-philic Residence

The design concept is Serene Minimalism with ‘wood-biophilic’, and is the direct interpretation of client’s character to then soul the house through dynamic architectural & interior design solutions, in sophisticated simplicity. The designer believes a calm space flows positive energy to the client’s house for their daily rejuvenation.



The Wood-philic:- The ‘Wood-philic’ concept is derived from the word ‘biophilic’ but with the wood here as the key component instead, which is also the client’s favourite natural material. Designer took the chance to apply this component through various interior and architectural interpretations to theme up and improve the spatial quality not just using its natural color & grain but also the design details and detailing with disciplined rhythm. Finally, with the green pockets that were strategically remade into the internal layout in various vertical & horizontal interlocked manners, the wood is working hand-in-hand with the greens & plants to brew a serene yet minimalistic ambiance that is entrusted as the fundamental format to generate good positive energy to the space, the culture and the user of the house.



Addressing her big-picture-minded character:- Design begins by space-remaking at common spaces such as Living, Kitchen, Entertainment Area, etc, through better proportion exploration: Recreating good proportional length through removing-adding walls, and addressing interesting volumetric space. Spatial quality was also explored via the creation of green pockets, allowing plants to interact closer to their daily living.



Addressing clarity of her mindset and serenity with premium ambiance:- through the contrast combination of dark-varnished wood color tone (client’s favorite color) and the greyish tone of stones with texture, then placed elegantly over white and clean bright surfaces. Camouflage doors and panels were used to achieve a clean overall feeling. The character of spaces was further embellished through the controlled color, forms, and shapes such as loose furniture & decoration.



Expressing the discipline of humble living culture, and appreciation of meticulous details:- through proportional lines-and-grooves configuration at design forms & surfaces, to achieve a large-scale design language that is humbly dynamic. The loud and fanciful color combination was carefully avoided.
