Penghu, fondly called “Gaillardia Island,” is the brightest gem located in the Taiwan Strait. It features the most distinctive natural landscape — basalt, which has been shaped by nature's extraordinary craftsmanship, astonishing geologists, and earning the praise of being called “God’s Sculpture Park.” The design of the 2024 Penghu Wind Music and Light Festival revolves around the theme of “Light Island Festival,” incorporating the core elements of “chasing wind, music, island, and seasons.” The various lighting art installations not only enhance Penghu’s nighttime charm but create a feast for the eyes and ears, offering an immersive experience for five senses. The event is organized by Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC. The design cleverly combines four main elements: wind, light, music, story, creating an unique experience of the sea and island which blends with local marine life, island vibes, and ocean culture. The event features a rich variety of activities. During the day, visitors are able to enjoy the relaxed vibe of beaches, sunshine, and bikinis. At night, they can savor a feast of lights and music. Notably, for the first time, the event combines the local natural landscape with movable light installations, creating a sensory feast reminiscent of Brazilian Carnival, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the enchanting autumn atmosphere of Penghu. The light environment of the 2024 Penghu Wind Music and Light Festival not only showcases artistic creativity but also creates a space where visitors can experience and interact with light. The design emphasizes the engaging interactive experience of sound and light, providing visitors with a brand-new way to engage with the allure of illumination. The event captures the natural beauty of Gaillardia Island (Penghu,) while also incorporating local landscapes and marine culture. The diverse ocean ecosystems and remarkable island charm are highlighted through lighting and music, making visitors feel as if they are traveling between the nature and culture of Penghu, experiencing the profound local landscapes and cultural sentiments.
