With ‘relaxation’ as its core design philosophy, this residence is dedicated to balancing modern wabi-sabi aesthetics with practical functionality. Through meticulous arrangement of materials, rich interplay of light and shadow, and refined use of lines, it creates an atmosphere of ‘tangible tranquility’, allowing residents to find inner peace and calm amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life.

The project embraces an ‘open-plan’ layout, dissolving conventional boundaries between functional zones through a deliberately blurred spatial logic. Living and dining areas are seamlessly integrated, with continuous oak-grain flooring and softly curved ceiling edges resulting in visual continuity and gentle harmony. Sofa modules support flexible reconfiguration, accommodating diverse scenarios such as relaxation, dining, and casual socializing. Moreover, the TV wall incorporates storage cabinets, serving multiple purposes including organization and display—balancing aesthetic appeal with practicality. Even the corridor is transformed into a meaningful node: floor-to-ceiling cabinets with a built-in fireplace enhance ambiance without compromising on functionality, eliminating the monotony of a mere passageway.

The project employs a low-saturation earth-toned palette: soft hues including creamy white, light brown, natural wood color, and pale gray lead to a soothing, relaxing home atmosphere, while deep accents in black and charcoal gray are applied to select areas to improve visual layering. Material selection emphasizes skin-friendliness and natural quality: the use of linen fabrics, micro-cement walls, and hardwood flooring offers space to ‘breathe’ through delicate textures; elements like rough pottery lamps and green plants extend the material narrative from visual and tactile aspects to emotional resonance, evoking an innate connection between man and nature. The lighting design prioritizes gentle diffused light, complemented by the interplay of light and shadow through slat blinds and recessed light fixtures, creating a tranquil and comfortable environment.
