Eclipse

Eclipse is a 4-bedroom apartment mainly for a family consisting of parents, a son and a daughter. The designer was inspired by parental love for the children and by the close relationship between family members. The halo around the warm light outlines a beautiful circle which is like the moon rising over the sea and symbolizes maternal love as profound as water. However, the warm veneer and the texture of the hard stone represent the head of the family so as paternal love as thick as mountain and the unyielding spirit.

The dining area is in the center of the open space which connects the living room and the kitchen. The material which is used to divide the dining area and the kitchen is sliding glass door to bring in natural light and make the space appear larger but most importantly to stop cooking smell from spreading. The designer created symmetry in the space extending from the house gate and divided interior façade via woodworks grilles and stones’ textures. The cabinet next to the gate is used to store sundries in the dining room and hides the infrequently used ugly distribution box inside. Moreover, the metallic bronze ornament on the middle-hollowed cabinet with warm white light creates a romantic atmosphere. The living room and dining room were separated by an abrupt beam and column. To keep the integrity of the façade and eliminate the feeling of presence from the beams and columns, the designer moved the wall connecting daughter’s room and TV accent wall towards the living room. Also, the designer used the warm but rustic-look mineral paint decorating the wall from ceiling to part of façade which looks like a corridor and becomes one of the design highlights in the living room and dining room. Each room is mainly designed in the dark palette and uses similar in materials to the public area but combine with room owner’s preferences and characteristic to keep the subject of the design the same as the public area. Therefore, each room has its own characteristics but is not out of place.
