About The Entry

DisruptSpace, an innovative approach to building renovation, is at the forefront of Shenzhen's urban renewal and sustainable development initiatives, emphasizing modular design and vertical expansion as fundamental concepts. Specifically based on the International Trade Centre building, DisruptSpace endeavours to redefine the transformation of conventional office structures by implementing flexible and diverse spatial arrangements and integrating green, low-carbon technologies. Its primary objective is to address various challenges, including inefficient spatial utilization, ageing infrastructure, limited land resources, monotonous operational modes, and excessive environmental burdens.

The aesthetic of the building is characterized by a modern, minimalist design, featuring a colour palette dominated by neutral tones complemented by the natural hues of materials, thereby fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere. From a structural perspective, DisruptSpace employs a combination of core and truss frameworks to ensure the stability and reliability of the edifice. The modular staggered design preserves the distinctive features of a classic urban landmark while permitting flexible, functional expansion. This design strategy allows the building units to support loads independently and adapt responsively while also facilitating disassembly and recycling, thereby minimizing construction waste generation. Additionally, the incorporation of intelligent monitoring and early warning systems provides comprehensive safety assurances for the building.

DisruptSpace harmoniously integrates office, leisure, and commercial functions into a forward-thinking and multifaceted complex. The design features a blend of open communal areas and private office spaces, creating an efficient and comfortable working environment for professionals. Furthermore, amenities such as a rooftop garden and shared tea room allow people to relax and connect with nature post-work. The building also seeks to lessen reliance on traditional energy sources by implementing photovoltaic power generation, rainwater harvesting systems, and advanced temperature and humidity control mechanisms.
