Home is a castle of warmth built up by family, a place to experience different facets of life together.

In a high-rise apartment, a minimalistic and modern Scandinavian style threads through this small-scale residence illuminated by natural light streaming through a side window. The duality of aesthetics and practicality creates a multi-functional, spatial ambience that broadens the family’s sensory experience.

Embellished with shiny aluminum lighting strips, the large floor-to-ceiling mirror by the entrance enables an open and intermediary transition between the inside and outside of the residence, shaping a comfortable field for entering and exiting. Behind the porch lies the living room, multi-functional room, and the dining and kitchen area in sequence. The long, open layout forging an unobstructed public space expands the atmosphere of this narrow residence.

The dominant hue of light blue in addition to wooden furniture finishes, stone-patterned pavements, and grille walls enrich the expressions of this residential space while maintaining a delicate and elegant texture. The interior layout forms an oblique turn with the alignment of the dining and kitchen storage cabinets with the center island dining table extending from the wall behind the sofa. This organized form allows users to relax in the living room, eat in the dining room, and cook in the kitchen while being able to easily interact with one another between rooms.

To meet the diverse needs of contemporary urban living, an independent, multifunctional space is designed separate from the living room. This small corner integrates raised wooden floorings, white Venetian blinds, and storage cabinets to create a lucent atmosphere. Glass sliding doors divide the area to add versatility and flexibility to the usage of the space. Providing for the ebbs and flows of life, this small sanctuary not only serves as a resting place on weekdays for listening to music, playing chess, practicing calligraphy, and painting but also as a guest room when relatives and friends visit.
