About The Entry

The project, located in Taoyuan, is a three-room residence for a family of three. Inspired by the family's lifestyle and love for camping, the designer captured their deep connection to nature and their child. Centered on the concept of “a home where the child feels secure at first glance,” the design encourages safe and free exploration. The name Wanderoo symbolizes the child roaming freely like a wanderer. The overall space uses soft arcs and earth tones throughout—seen in the curved TV wall, ceiling corners, and window-side seating—to guide both sightlines and flow with a sense of embrace.

The space highlights how a child perceives the world, expressed through themes of gentleness, inclusivity, and discovery. The main wall in the living room features a curved TV wall complemented by a linear grille and rounded transitions. The sofa area is intentionally kept simple and spacious for running and play. Low-height, multifunctional cabinets serve both as toy storage and future bookshelves, instilling tidiness from an early age. A bear-shaped whiteboard wall in the hallway functions as both a doodle space and a family message board.

The window-side lounge, designed for the mother, offers a cozy nook for reading while keeping an eye on the child. Accordion blinds and a raised platform create an embracing, intimate atmosphere. The dining and desk areas are interchangeable, allowing for layout flexibility. A hidden storage room—concealed behind fluted glass sliding doors—concentrates household storage, accommodating strollers, electric wardrobes, and camping gear, keeping the communal areas organized.
