One by one, the collection grows. The uncontrollable fondness many have for statement pieces
of furniture and deco. Having a collection of stylistic FF&E is a dream. But without careful and
meaningful arrangement, it is closer to a nightmare.
Balancing a single piece of furnishing with strong characteristics with the rest of the space is a
challenge. Even more so when you have a collection of standalone pieces that must be put
together in a functional and harmonious manner.
Entering this home, the owner and guests are welcomed into a lounge and living area lit by
natural lighting. With complementing round ceiling lamp and carpet, the Edra On The Rock sofa
sits right in the middle of the space, just like an island. Intentionally placed away from the edges
and walls, we are able to fully enjoy the versatility of On The Rock – freedom to position the
sofa backing in whichever direction fits best for the moment – enjoy some tv screen time, or
roll the other way for a home theatre screening and games.
At the corners, sets of chairs and tables lure souls seeking some alone time. Havens for the
owner giving in to the inner desire to curl up and rest, or for guests needing some time away
from an ongoing home party. Space out in the sharp Cassina Zeilmaker armchair with a cup of
tea on the clear Bomma Hex tables or sink in the Ligne Roset Togo sofa with a glass of wine
accompanied by the reflections and refraction of the Flam Phantom.
The base colors of the rooms are light and muted, building and preserving cohesiveness
throughout the home. Warmth seeps through the deep tone accents of the bedroom and study
room furnishings. Browns, burgundy and greens soothe a down-to-earth person seeking
comfort from everyday chores and responsibilities. Irregular shaped lightings and lamps add
some light-heartedness and reveal the owner’s idea of fun.
