2024 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival “Taichung Bravo”

The main lantern of the 2024 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival was designed by a technology artist with a background in visual and performing arts, Mr. Jiang Yuanhao. Traditional lantern craftsmen also assisted in handcrafting the realistic appearance of the lanterns, and a team of mechanical engineers created and tested the mechanical design. With the integration of theatrical performances, green energy, and environmental protection concepts, the lantern show was not only a change of light, but also a visual and cultural feast. This fusion of old and new techniques and concepts demonstrated the historical and cultural connotations and local characteristics of Taiwan and the Oriental countries.



The main light, “Taichung Bravo”, was placed in the detention basin. The area was transformed into a natural and ready-made theater stage, while the golden dragon was perched on the boundary between the dry and wet ponds. The lantern occupied a 76-meter-wide area and was accompanied by watercraft such as pianos, forests, butterflies, and birds to demonstrate Taichung's excellence in all aspects of its development and to echo the local people's emotional connection to the Year of the Dragon. The mobile watercraft traversed nearly 150 meters of water, creating a stunning display of the main illumination show.
