“#5525" is a large-scale tour by Mayday for their 25th anniversary. The program cleverly integrated the years that the fans and Mayday have gone through together into each song, leading the audience to travel through time and space with music. The innovative stage design utilized the concept of a time machine to explore multiple issues across time and space and sang uninterruptedly from the first album in 1999 to the ninth album in 2016. In addition to performing the classics of each album, the visual design also linked the band's history and fans' memories together. In the coda, Mayday expressed their gratitude to each other's family and friendship, to their fans, and to the past, cherishing the present and looking to the future, which triggered the audience's reflections and feelings that each present moment eventually became a touch in the future. The whole program is not only a presentation of music, but also an in-depth exploration of innovation, technology, and humanistic care.
Breaking away from the previous 2D screen, the stage has a 12-meter diameter and five 5-meter 3D LED spheres. Their surfaces are seamlessly spliced together to create a three-dimensional space where images can be seen more clearly. The audience holds reusable interactive lighting sticks, which are paired to their seats via their cellphone App or NFC, and also synced to main controller via 2.5G. By utilizing dynamic pattern technology with the interactive lighting sticks, the stage design is extended to encompass the entire performance area.
For the design team, the greatest source of professional passion is when a piece of work can touch the audience and become their nourishment and memories. Once again, the concert proved to be an artistic feast combining music with architecture, lighting, and animation design.
