About The Entry

The “Soar” art installation embodies the spirit of reaching new heights with grace and freedom. Here’s how we weave these elements together:

1. Freedom and Harmony: The whale’s flight signifies freedom—breaking free from constraints and limitations. Its graceful movement reflects harmony within the community, where diverse perspectives converge.

2. Water and Tolerance: The sculpture’s form—condensed and diffused—represents water. Water is both tranquil and adaptable, just like the community. It forgives and nurtures, fostering a sense of belonging.

A Triangular Marvel

The three-dimensional whale comprises countless stable triangles, emphasizing stability and unity. Each face tells a story—a facet of community life, a shared memory, or a resident’s dream.

Material and Form

1. Inner Structure: Stainless steel round tubes form the whale’s core. The juxtaposition of square and round echoes wisdom—combining tradition (square) with modernity (round).

Laozi’s Wisdom

Inspired by Laozi’s Tao Te Ching, the installation embodies his teachings:

“Living in a kind place and having a kind heart, Living in a blessed land, having a benevolent heart.”

The “Soar” sculpture invites residents to embrace kindness, compassion, and gratitude. It radiates warmth, encouraging goodwill among neighbors.

Illuminating Nights

At night, the sculpture transforms. Light seeps through gaps, creating a mesmerizing play of shadows. It becomes a diamond beacon, guiding residents home—a symbol of safety, community, and shared dreams.
