Thirty Anderson is a boutique multi-residential development delivering luxury living across three large-scale residences within a coveted pocket of South Yarra. The architecture and interior design alike were driven by a desire to live calmly – from the open, sculptural and light-filled spaces to the ever-present connections with nature.
The brief for Thirty Anderson was to create a multi-residential address as part of The Botanic Collection – designed by Rob Mills Architecture & Interiors (RMA) and developed by Sadikay Group – that would respond aesthetically to its location within a premium location. The design also nods to celebrated modernist architects Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn, and ultimately creates a place that cultivates wellbeing.
This led to careful spatial planning to present three different perspectives of Melbourne’s iconic Royal Botanic Gardens from three whole-floor apartments that celebrate light, space and sculptural design.
The penthouse design is unique, capturing space and light at an unprecedented scale for a truly luxurious experience. This result is a living room with ceilings 3.6m high and expansive glazing offering abundant natural light and sky views. The penthouse also includes a rooftop terrace with a pool, outdoor dining and living, sun lounges and cooking facilities that offer an experience equivalent to a private resort.
For the mid-level apartment, roof windows bring light and space within, while residents also enjoy views towards the treeline of the Botanic Gardens. Beneath, the ground floor apartment delivers a more direct relationship with nature, connecting seamlessly to a private garden.
Materials range from richly veined natural stone, grey and silver hues to textural, polished plaster walls. Flowing fabrics introduce softness while, timber flooring and complementary timber joinery add to a cohesive and calming experience throughout.
Thirty Anderson delivers three large-scale and truly luxurious addresses, each with a different experience of the natural world. It presents a synthesis of well-honed design principles, and the restorative effects of living surrounded by nature.
