Located in the northeast region of Beijing, the 28,000-sq-ft office delivers a future-focused workspace for Tetra Pak’s 250-strong team in Beijing. The design has drawn inspiration from the local area of Beijing, blending the historical craftmanship with forward thinking modern cultural influences. The design has been brought together with a light base palette that has a calm rhythm, layering on bolder colours, textures and detailing to enhance the user experience.
As this was a refurbishment of an existing site, it was important to have a big impact on the way the teams were working. Moving from a very cellularised and traditional layout, the workspace was opened up to give priority of natural light to the working areas and provide a workspace with options of worksettings for the staff to work in.
The design embeds environmental sustainability and employee wellbeing, ensuring that the new workspace provides a healthy and sustainably responsible environment. Using cognitive zoning methods, tp bennett designed gentle transitions from high-stimulation areas and lower-stimulation spaces. tp bennett has positioned the key collaboration areas to benefit from the building’s abundance of natural light, with planting and increased biophilia supporting wellbeing.
To reinforce the ‘food at the heart’ of the brand, the existing staff restaurant was also refurbished in the project and the cooking equipment upgraded to ensure the site functions as Net Zero Carbon operationally.
