The U.S. Coast Guard Medical-Dental Center in North Charleston provides emergency, primary care, dental, telemedicine, and education for Coast Guard members. Key challenges include community separation, flood risks, and increased demand during COVID-19. The project focuses on creating a resilient, community-integrated center with a transparent atrium for connection. Elevated parking and rooftop mechanical rooms reduce flood risks. The raised topography separates vehicle and pedestrian access, incorporating flexible vestibules to serve as high-demand screening areas during urgent periods.
