The residence is a 50-year-old home with an elongated layout and structural damage from past earthquakes, facing challenges such as limited natural light and constrained functional zoning. The design team sought to preserve the nostalgic charm of this vintage home while integrating modern aesthetics to enhance usability and comfort. The concept focuses on maximizing light penetration and blending nature into living spaces, using curved elements to soften the interiors and modern systems to improve air quality and humidity, creating a home that balances beauty and functionality.

As you step into the residence, the front balcony's centerpiece immediately captures attention. The harmonious combination of natural rock sculptures and sculptural lighting creates a tranquil and artistic focal point, offering a warm and inviting welcome. Within the space, curved walls soften the rigidity of straight lines, introducing a sense of fluidity and continuity. The interplay of layered wood textures with off-white artistic paint adds depth and warmth, enriching the overall spatial experience. The natural scenery from the front and rear balconies is elegantly framed by fixed glass panels, transforming these views into stunning interior focal points. Additionally, adjustable lighting, paired with the multi-dimensional textures of wood materials, provides a range of atmospheric settings, enhancing the livability of the space.

The limited natural light from the front and rear balconies left the central areas in complete darkness. The challenge was to address the confined feeling of the elongated layout while enhancing overall brightness. The team creatively employed glass partitions and indirect lighting to extend light into every corner without compromising privacy. Additionally, a comprehensive ventilation and dehumidification system was installed to combat humidity while maintaining air freshness. Curved walls combined with layered wood textures create an expansive visual effect within the constrained space. This project serves as a remarkable example of breathing new life into an aged home, seamlessly blending nature, emotion, and functionality to celebrate residential aesthetics and modern living.
