This project focuses on the thoughtful planning of communal spaces within a congregate housing property. Central to this initiative are the enduring ideals of love and peace—aspirations shared by all of humanity and emblematic of the legendary Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. Drawing inspiration from Picasso’s rich artistic journey, the design philosophy for the main space is anchored in his iconic painting, “The Dove,” which symbolizes tranquility and hope. The design embraces the distinctive characteristics of Cubism, infusing the environment with an array of abstract geometric forms, innovative deconstructed elements, and a palette of vivid colors. This artistic approach transforms the communal areas into a vibrant, dynamic living environment, breathing life and depth into the space. Residents will be welcomed into an atmosphere that fosters a sense of calm, encouraging a peaceful and harmonious community experience.

In recent years, the communal areas of Taiwanese apartment buildings have undergone significant transformations to accommodate a diverse array of needs, including the integration of delivery service platforms pick-up area, large-scale electrical and mechanical equipment, and dedicated parcel storage. To mitigate clutter and ensure unobstructed circulation while fostering an inviting atmosphere for residents, the design team embraced a sophisticated three-dimensional geometric trim design to elegantly conceal storage cabinets. This innovative approach not only delivers a harmonious geometric aesthetic but also deftly balances functionality with visual appeal.

In addition, the lighting design was executed with careful consideration, employing a strategic combination of general and accent lighting to create a dynamic visual hierarchy. This technique serves to accentuate the geometric features within the space, enhancing its three-dimensional qualities and adding depth to the overall environment. The project's color scheme drew inspiration from the vibrant and varied hues characteristic of Cubist art. The team took a bold approach, incorporating an eclectic mix of colors—from striking shades of reddish-orange, blue, and green to subdued tones of grey, black, white, and beige. This thoughtful juxtaposition of colors infuses the space with energy and visual tension, resulting in a lively and engaging communal environment that resonates with both residents and visitors alike.
