This is a plan for a technology development center of a company that manufactures and develops temperature sensors, which are the heart of electronic thermometers. As their office in the city center became cramped, they sought a new site in Yokohama City, which has good access from Tokyo. At the new location, a rich spatial design that allows for free thinking was required. In particular, the design and spatial composition were pursued so that engineers gathered from around the world could deeply experience Japan's traditional culture.

The exterior shape of this building is inspired by the beautiful scenery of "tanada" (terraced rice fields), a traditional Japanese landscape. The spatial composition of this tanada design is highly suitable as an environment where intelligence is nurtured and rich sensibilities are born. Moreover, this unique cross-sectional shape that steps up gradually from the north side to the south side of the site fully complies with the strict shadow regulations of the Japanese Building Standards Act.

The form, which gradually rises from north to south with greened open terraces stacked and unfolding on the rooftops, evokes Japan's rich original landscapes like tanada. It creates a place where people can spend time feeling abundant nature and considering environmental friendliness, even while being in the city. In the interior plan, a large skylight crossing the center and a generous atrium space were secured for the horizontally long building shape, creating a space filled with light inside the building.

Meeting rooms and laboratories adopted open glass partitions, planned to foster opportunities for various discoveries and interactions.
