The name of the project is "JL STUDIO", which is an abbreviation of the chef's name. The restaurant is a Singaporean creative cuisine restaurant hosted by a Singaporean chef. In order to provide Taiwanese consumers an exotic atmosphere, the design team took Southeast Asian characteristics, Nyonya architecture style, as the core combined with wabi-sabi style. At the same time, they use porcelain decoration and auspicious motifs to show the diverse culture of Singapore.
The project emphasizes the auspicious symbolism associated with Singapore. The designer used a variety of blessed symbolic elements to make the dining experience better. At the same time, by using classic elements, the chef who is working in a foreign country can feel like he is back home, serving delicious specialties to the gourmets. The project uses recyclable and eco-friendly building materials to give new life to discarded items and materials. The color scheme also continues the color of the building materials, giving the space a wood and wicker tone that echoes the wabi-sabi style.
"In this space, we recreate the memories of the Singaporean chef's hometown and provide a unique experience for visitors.”
The entrance is the reception area, from which a view of the interior reveals a delicate window pattern. The stifling heat of Southeast Asia requires skylights to regulate the interior temperature, so the walls are inlaid with wooden window patterns that echo the fan-shaped skylights of the changing light fixtures. The fan, also known as plantain, is a common tropical plant in Southeast Asia, which was often used to cool the air. The designer cleverly transformed the banana leaf into the shape of the lighting fixture, symbolizing the "fan" of wealth into the interior.
