About The Entry

This project explores the fusion of Persimmon Dyeing, a traditional natural dyeing technique from Asia, with the geometric rhythm of Op Art. By contrasting earthy persimmon tones with bold black-and-white optical patterns, the design redefines the rustic image of persimmon dyeing into something contemporary and expressive.

Each bag is handcrafted using naturally fermented persimmon dye and undergoes sun exposure, absorption, and oxidation, resulting in textures that reflect time, nature, and individuality. The designs emphasize clean structure and functionality, seamlessly fitting into modern life.

Through this work, we ask: Can tradition be reawakened through design? These bags are not just accessories—they are a dialogue between craft and innovation, meant to be worn, used, and reimagined in the everyday.
