About The Entry

Overview

Star Fall is an experimental, immersive installation that invites participants into a poetic journey of a fallen star searching for connection. Through interactive storytelling, multi-screen projection, and 5.1 surround sound, the experience explores how simple interactions can shape emotional narratives. At the heart of Star Fall lies a custom-designed pointer interface, allowing visitors to "touch" the stars and guide the storyline in real time. The visuals stretch across three projection screens, enveloping viewers in a dreamlike world, while layered soundscapes respond dynamically to user movement and choices. The installation bridges digital and physical space, turning passive viewing into active participation.

The project was developed in Unity and tailored for location-based environments such as museums, design exhibitions, and cultural installations. Each element—from the hand-drawn starry visuals to the ambient audio cues—is crafted to evoke emotion and spark curiosity, creating a space where technology and storytelling blur into one.

Design Goals

● Push the boundaries of interactive narrative in physical spaces.

● Use nonverbal storytelling to evoke emotional responses across cultures and ages.

● Explore how spatial sound, visual composition, and user input can harmonize to build immersion.

Key Features

● Real-time interaction through a custom motion pointer.

● Three-wall projection system for full environmental immersion.

● 5.1 surround audio designed to adapt with user input.

● No words—only music, visuals, and motion guide the experience.

Impact

Star Fall has been shown in experimental digital art showcases, where it was praised for its emotional resonance and innovative use of spatial media. Audiences described it as "calming," "unexpectedly moving," and "magical." It offers a glimpse into how storytelling and user experience design can merge in future cultural experiences.
