“Ling Snake” is the official mascot created for Linhai, Zhejiang, to welcome the 2025 Year of the Snake. This festive character is more than a celebration symbol—it is a cultural ambassador that showcases Linhai’s rich heritage, regional identity, and modern creativity.

The design concept draws deeply from local traditions, notably the Huangsha Lion Dance, known for its vibrant energy and symbolism of good fortune. “Ling Snake” features a lion dance-inspired headpiece, a flowing decorative tail, and the Chinese character “Lin” on its forehead to honor the city’s name. Its serpentine body mirrors the curves of the Linhai Great Wall, representing strength and historical resilience. Dressed in attire influenced by the Song Dynasty, the mascot bridges Linhai’s ancient legacy with contemporary design.

“Ling Snake” incorporates the city’s lush green landscapes and cultural symbols into a cheerful, family-friendly character. It serves as a visual storyteller—connecting the past and present, tradition and innovation. Through its engaging appearance and multi-layered meaning, the mascot fosters civic pride and encourages cultural exploration among both residents and visitors.

Designed for versatility, “Ling Snake” can appear across a wide range of media—from collectible figurines and digital content to large-scale public art and festive installations. It is intended to enhance celebrations, promote tourism, and bring the people of Linhai closer together through shared cultural experience.

Unlike typical zodiac mascots, “Ling Snake” combines multiple elements unique to Linhai, creating a fresh yet rooted identity that stands out nationally. This thoughtful fusion of tradition, design, and storytelling not only marks the Year of the Snake but elevates Linhai’s cultural presence for years to come.
