Papago Bird’s Life Cycle Pavilion is a science exhibition designed by NYGDESIGN in 2023 for Papago Land—the first large-scale parrot-themed bird and flower park in China. The pavilion focuses on the life cycle of birds, blending scientific education with immersive, nature-inspired spatial design.

To recreate an authentic jungle-like experience, the color palette draws from the natural hues of Xiandu’s mountains and forests, accentuated with pink tones symbolizing new life and bird plumage. The exhibition integrates tactile, auditory, and visual interactions to reduce reliance on digital screens and strengthen five-senses engagement.

Visitors journey through the full arc of avian life—from gestation and hatching to growth, aging, and even extinction. Eco-friendly materials such as recycled ocean plastic boards and screen-printed illustrations are used to simulate bird habitats and behaviors. Large-scale installations like the Great Pelican’s mouth allow visitors to physically explore avian anatomy, while motion-triggered audio devices play various bird calls. Delicate hand-painted graphics and 3D models help children and adults alike engage with the scientific content intuitively.

A unique “kid’s perspective” Q&A installation hangs from the ceiling, answering common questions in a humorous, accessible tone. This encourages younger audiences to explore and learn through curiosity.

Balancing education, interaction, and sustainability, the pavilion transforms bird science into a vivid sensory experience. The project not only makes biodiversity knowledge engaging and memorable but also fosters ecological awareness among the next generation.
