Located in the heart of North Point, Hong Kong, this private residence was commissioned by a young couple with a deep appreciation for art and a refined lifestyle. The design responds to their desire for a home that goes beyond functionality, becoming a sanctuary that reflects emotional depth, aesthetic sensibility, and spatial freedom. Situated in the dense fabric of the city, the project reinterprets the idea of domestic living through a lens of softness, openness, and organic flow, transforming the limitations of compact urban housing into opportunities for spatial richness and intimacy. Drawing inspiration from the natural rhythms of the sea and the quiet strength of the harbor, the design integrates spatial fluidity with a carefully curated material palette. Maple wood is used extensively throughout the residence—on walls, floors, and custom furnishings—imbuing the space with warmth, subtle texture, and a sense of continuity. The curved edges, flowing lines, and layered lighting references the motion of tides and the serenity of coastal landscapes, offering a calm counterpoint to the fast-paced city beyond. The spatial layout prioritizes openness while maintaining functional clarity. Non-load-bearing partitions were reconfigured to create a seamless connection between the living, dining, and multifunctional areas, enabling natural light to permeate and visually expanding the interior. The living room features full-height glazing that frames urban views while drawing daylight deep into the home. In the master bedroom, a soothing material palette of wood, soft upholstery, and muted tones fosters a sense of retreat. Details such as the wave-like curvature of the headboard and recessed lighting enhance the tranquil atmosphere. Sustainability was a guiding principle from concept to execution. All materials were selected for low VOC emissions and ecological responsibility, including FSC-certified wood, eco-friendly finishes, and breathable textiles. Energy-efficient LED lighting, natural ventilation planning, and modular furniture systems further align the design with sustainable living goals.
This project exemplifies a contemporary residential aesthetic rooted in emotional resonance, material sensitivity, and spatial intelligence. It reflects the designers’ commitment to creating homes that are not only visually compelling but also deeply livable, emotionally responsive, and environmentally conscious.
