Title: Designed for Life — A Subtly Luxurious Retirement Home
This home redesign breathes new life into a 30-year-old apartment, offering a serene and elegant living space for a retired couple. The design focuses on balance—between light and texture, curves and structure, function and feeling.
The layout was reworked to transform awkward corners into fluid, rectilinear spaces. A calm palette of beige, light grey, and wood tones brightens the home while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Finely chosen materials—including metal shelving, ripple glass panels, and cement-textured wallpaper—add quiet richness throughout.
Curved lighting troughs, round-edged furniture, and soft lines bring visual flow and harmony, turning everyday moments into elegant experiences. Feng shui principles were also thoughtfully applied: a full-height shoe cabinet at the entry serves as a screen between the main door and the bedroom, while the dark blue front door and grey-blue floor tiles introduce contrast and depth.
Every area is designed with the owners’ lifestyle in mind. The study features a raised floor with built-in storage for books, reflecting a passion for reading. The dining and living rooms remain open and uncluttered, with only essential cabinetry to preserve a sense of calm and spaciousness.
This is not just a renovation—it is a celebration of a new chapter in life. Thoughtfully tailored and quietly sophisticated, the home offers its owners a personalised, elegant retreat to enjoy their retirement with comfort and grace.
