Altro Global Transport, in partnership with Neomind, the renowned German design house, is proud to present the neuroinclusive bus interior for consideration in the prestigious Conceptual Design in Mobility award. This innovative design exemplifies a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that public transport is welcoming and functional for all individuals, including those within the neurodivergent community.

The neuroinclusive bus interior is a testament to thoughtful and user-centric design. This project features distinct spaces tailored to meet the diverse needs of passengers. The quiet spaces provide a serene environment for those who require a calm and less stimulating atmosphere, while the family spaces are designed to accommodate the unique needs of families travelling together. Priority spaces ensure that individuals with specific requirements have access to seating that meets their needs.

Neurodivergent passengers often face significant challenges when using public transport, including sensory overload from noise and crowds, difficulty processing information, and anxiety from unpredictable environments. This design addresses these challenges by incorporating enhanced passenger information screens, strategically placed throughout the bus, offering clear and accessible information to all passengers. These screens are designed to be easily readable and provide real-time updates, ensuring that everyone can navigate their journey with confidence.

In addition to spatial considerations, the design team has meticulously selected materials that enhance the overall experience of the bus interior. Improved acoustics are achieved through thoughtful material choices, reducing noise levels and creating a more comfortable environment for all passengers. These materials not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the bus but also play a crucial role in ensuring a pleasant and stress-free travel experience.

The neuroinclusive bus interior represents a significant advancement in the field of mobility design. It reflects an unwavering commitment to creating transport solutions that are accessible, inclusive, and considerate of the diverse needs of all individuals. By improving the travel experience for neurodivergent passengers, this concept also has the potential to increase overall ridership. A more inclusive and comfortable environment encourages more people to use public transport, benefiting operators and specifiers by enhancing service utilisation and customer satisfaction.
