《Smart Taichung – The City of the Future, Vol. 2》 is a digital publication that reinterprets the concept of a smart city from a citizen-centered perspective, transforming abstract policies into concrete everyday experiences. The second issue adopts the theme “Best Plan with You!” and breaks away from the conventional tone of government publications through vibrant orange-and-blue visuals, planner-style graphics, and character illustrations. The cover combines an aerial view of Taichung with technological line motifs to symbolize the seamless connection of smart governance. Inside pages use full-bleed photography, break-frame layouts, sticker-like icons, and lightweight dialogue boxes to present technological information through approachable, relatable usage scenarios.

In contrast to conventional one-way communication commonly seen in government publications, this work builds its reading rhythm through “lifestyle-based storytelling.” A first-person narrative guides readers through a day in the city, transportation, mobility services, festive participation, allowing smart parking, maternity shuttle services, the “Taichung Pass” voting and rewards system, and other public services to naturally blend into daily life. Technology is reframed not as a cold technical mechanism but as a reliable companion woven into urban living.

The second issue includes four main sections: “Documenting the Everyday,” which explores smart applications through an urban adventure perspective; “Life Add-ons,” which presents authentic citizen feedback; “Co-creating the City,” highlighting upcoming developments such as the Green Museum Park and the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center; and “Builder’s Log,” documenting festival economies and achievements in smart infrastructure. With clear infographics, hand-drawn collage elements, and bold contrasting layouts, the publication creates a bright, forward-looking reading experience, symbolizing how a smart city integrates into everyday life and continues to evolve collaboratively with its citizens.
