About The Entry

SECOND SKIN: Fashion, AI, and Light is an immersive exhibition by SHOWMAKERS, transforming a 150-meter unused transfer corridor in Seoul’s Sindang Station into a new kind of fashion stage. Commissioned under the public design initiative Seoul Fashion Road, the project reimagines fashion as a living dialogue between technology, body, and light. Beginning from the story of Dongdaemun Market — the heart of Korea’s fashion ecosystem for over a century — the exhibition connects its urban legacy with the creativity of emerging designers and the intelligence of AI. Six next-generation designers, all based in Dongdaemun’s Seoul Fashion Hub, trained a large language model (LLM) with their brand philosophy and aesthetics. AI then generated visual codes, patterns, and motions that became digital “garments” of light projected onto the visitors’ bodies. Under the slogan “CODE AS A STYLE, LIGHT AS A GARMENT,” the exhibition dissolves the boundary between designer and audience. Visitors pass through a fluorescent green gateway into a world where fashion no longer depends on fabric but exists as an atmosphere of movement, sound, and reflection. Within the main chamber, AI-generated light patterns envelop the human form, creating the sensation of wearing a second skin—fluid, sensorial, and alive.

The space unfolds as a triptych of experience: Sub Merge Gate, a threshold between reality and the digital realm; Molt Pod, where light and code merge into tactile visual texture; and Echo Hall, a finale of rhythm, motion, and breath where soundscapes of Dongdaemun’s streets and the Sindang subway merge with techno beats. Through reflection, dispersion, and rhythm, SECOND SKIN proposes a new fashion language for the AI era—one where clothing evolves into perception, architecture becomes performance, and light becomes identity.
