Nestled in Hou’an Village, Jing County, Anhui Province, Jixianju Vacation Rental Hotel spans 1,017 square meters and dates back to the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty—a structure that has stood gracefully for over 210 years.
Tucked within a historic settlement marked by densely packed architecture, winding alleyways, and soft natural light, the property offers far more than a conventional stay. It is this very authenticity—the visible traces of time, local traditions, and distinctive scenery—that forms its cultural and historical essence. Through thoughtful restoration and the seamless integration of new spaces, we have revitalized this centuries-old residence.
Historical changes once led to the partial demolition of the building, leaving a 510-square-meter vacant plot to the north and disrupting the courtyard’s original enclosed layout. In response, we have introduced new structures on this northern site, reviving the courtyard’s sense of wholeness.
While preserving the ancient fabric, we have gently reimagined the interior. The southern section serves as the entryway, where the traditional screen wall has been retained. Beyond it, the original eastern and western boundary walls now frame an open inner courtyard—reinterpreted as a Zen-inspired garden.
A circular pathway guides guests toward suites on either side, linked by stepping stones that meander through curated landscape elements. Four guest suites—two on the east, two on the west—surround the courtyard, while the former main hall has been transformed into two shared lounges opening onto a rear garden. This design invites abundant sunlight into what was once a somber space, lifting the atmosphere into one that feels warm and airy.
To elevate the sense of retreat, every suite features a garden-style bathroom. The two larger western suites include soaking tubs, with showers opening directly onto private micro-gardens. Skylights overhead allow guests to bathe beneath daylight or gaze up at the stars—an intimate connection with nature that fosters tranquility.
Local and natural materials reflect our commitment to sustainability and regional identity. By weaving new life into the village’s ecological and architectural fabric, this hotel bridges heritage and renewal—a place where history is not merely preserved, but thoughtfully rekindled.
