Centered on the theme of “Ruins and Rebirth,” this collection explores the dynamic interplay between natural forces and the remnants of human civilization. Drawing inspiration from the wild resurgence of vegetation in abandoned spaces, the work visually reconstructs the tension between industrial decay and biological vitality. Treating clothing as a vessel of time, the project metaphorically represents the ecosystem’s self-repair mechanism after trauma, suggesting that destruction is often the prelude to rebirth. It invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between humanity and nature, shifting from a narrative of opposition to one of profound symbiosis.

In terms of material experimentation, the series innovatively juxtaposes rust-dyed textiles with biodegradable bio-fabrics, specifically a composite of gelatin and wool felt. The unpredictable, mottled patterns created by iron oxidation on the fabric mimic the corrosion of metal exposed to the elements, recording the physical passage of time. Simultaneously, the semi-translucent, cracking texture of the gelatin combined with the warmth of the wool recreates the microscopic landscape of moss and microbial colonies spreading across ruins. This contrast—between the rough and the fragile, the rigid and the soft—creates a strong visual tension while conveying, through touch, a transformative journey from industrial coldness to organic warmth.

Exploring the tension between “structure” and “deconstruction,” the design uses patchwork and layering to build textile strata that mimic geological time. Silhouettes borrow rigid geometry from the skeletons of abandoned amusement parks, contrasting their static steel frames with soft, intricate knotting that suggests vines reclaiming machinery. This clash of rigid contours and flexible fabric creates a unique visual energy, turning each garment into a breathing micro-architecture that harmonizes industrial remnants with natural growth.

More than an aesthetic experiment, Ruins and Rebirth is a manifesto for sustainability. Using fully biodegradable materials, it enacts a “Cradle to Cradle” loop that rejects fast fashion. Through its sensory narrative, the collection asks how nature will rewrite the story post-humanity, calling for a paradigm shift from conquest to adaptation and offering a design model that truly harmonizes with the natural world.
