X-Site of Hsinchu Science Park (Phase 1)- First Software Building
Hsinchu is Taiwan’s leading hub for semiconductor industry development. Located within the Hsinchu Science Park X-Site, the first Software Building is planned as a two-level basement and a 12-story office tower. The development targets advanced industries including AI, IoT, R&D, 5G communication, and big data.
The project is positioned at the interface between Hsinchu City’s cultural core and its high-tech industrial sector. It serves as a key node within the “i-Line,” an urban framework that connects technological development with public and cultural infrastructure, strengthening the relationship between the science park and the city.
The architectural strategy is based on modular office planning and stepped massing. Layered setbacks create a system of outdoor terraces and “energy pod” spaces that extend the workplace beyond enclosed interiors. These semi-outdoor areas support informal interaction and improve spatial flexibility. The façade integrates vertical greening to enhance environmental performance and microclimate control.
Ecological and public systems are embedded within the master plan. An ecological detention pond provides stormwater management and contributes to environmental resilience. The central “Tech Boulevard” acts as a public interface that connects the campus with surrounding urban areas, increasing accessibility and activity.
By integrating high-performance workplace infrastructure with landscape and public space, the project establishes a hybrid development model. It supports both advanced industry and everyday urban use, creating a more open and connected science park environment.
