Motan Cultural Tourism Resort

Motan Cultural Tourism Resort is located within a wetland rural site in Hefei, China. The project integrates architectural design and landscape systems to reorganize rural space, creating a cohesive environment where built elements and natural ecology work together.

The Nanbao Gate Visitor Center acts as the main entrance, forming a layered spatial sequence that connects arrival, orientation, and transition into the landscape. Architecture and landscape are designed together to guide movement and perception.

Within the site, the Cute Bird Camp serves as a key node. Lightweight membrane structures are embedded into the wetland terrain, providing flexible spaces for camping and activities while maintaining a strong connection to the natural environment.

A series of four bridges links different zones across the site. Their design combines structural clarity with references to natural forms, functioning both as infrastructure and as spatial landmarks within the landscape.

The circulation system integrates walking paths, water routes, and a small train, forming a multi-layered network that connects architectural nodes and landscape spaces into a continuous experience.

The project emphasizes minimal ecological intervention while enabling diverse uses such as tourism, recreation, and public activities. Through the integration of architecture and landscape, it establishes a balanced relationship between built form, environment, and rural development.
