Taizhou’s Hehe culture, a philosophy of harmony and integration, is rooted in the region’s rich layers of history, geography, and social life. Drawing on a refined Eastern sensibility, Greentown Taizhou Oriental Villa reinterprets courtyard living as a contemporary spatial experience. The project redefines the essence of future high-end living by shifting the focus from “looking good” to “feeling right to live in,” responding to deeper emotional and human needs through a thoughtful reconfiguration of space.
Inspired by the idea of “lush, thriving vegetation,” the courtyard design strips away superficial luxury and excessive ornament, grounding its aesthetics in craftsmanship and in Taizhou’s mountain-and-sea cultural context. Using contemporary materials and techniques, it reinterprets the idea of dwelling and “home,” creating a living experience that feels both distinctly Eastern and naturally at ease.
“Home is a vessel of life.” Materials are chosen for their ability to age and evolve over time, allowing the space to grow with a sense of rhythm and breath. The lacquer artwork in the entrance, the straw screen in the dining area, and the handwoven piece in the tea room are not expressions of decorative excess, but manifestations of vitality. Like a living organism, the home unfolds with rhythm, breath, and moments of transition. After an era of material abundance, the true luxury of the future may lie in something more immediate: a sense of nature and quiet calm within reach.
