Before Becoming Someone Else is a narrative Roguelite experience about growth anxiety and personality exchange. Players are born with three initial traits—curiosity, sensitivity, and sincerity. As they move through five distinct spaces—Birth Hall, Classroom, CBD, Childhood Zone, and Church—they encounter mechanical NPCs who embody ideal traits: focus, efficiency, patience, curiosity, and faith. Through dialogue, players can exchange one of their own traits for an NPC‘s trait. Every gain comes with an instant loss. The journey ends at the Finalization Ritual, where players face a final question: how much of your original self are you willing to lose in order to fit into the world?
