About The Entry

Environmental Features:

The design concept of this project is derived from the historical landscape in the same location more than a hundred year ago. The site of this project is in Fengyuan, which was also known as Haluton in the old time. Fengyuan is located on the alluvial fan plain land of the Dajia River and in the northern part of Taichung Basin, which is at the foot of the Central Mountains.

Hundreds of years ago this land was covered by flowers and grassland with fertile soil that extended for thousands of miles. The grasslands and forests were also the habitat of the Axis deer, whose elegant feature could often be found lying or standing under the trees, running or jumping among the low shrub grassland and the sea of flower. The design concept inspired by the Axis deer is to provide the residents with the experience of multiple atmospheres of joy, soothing, elegance and ethereal and be embraced by the poetry and memories of nature in the old time. The concept of this project is conveyed through four separated garden areas, namely Herb Garden, Moss Fern Garden, Cherry Blossom Garden and Prairie Garden, where each of them having their own characteristics and functions.

Spatial Features and functions:

The project intends to demonstration some strategies of healthy living against the extreme climates. By maximizing and optimizing the area of green space, the idea is to bring the nature and recreational activities into the daily life the community residents with the pleasant pedestrian corridors and pocket parks accessible by the public. The green trees are used to soften and blur the boundary formed by the old buildings in the surrounding, while improving the environmental quality and extending the value of ecological sustainability. The site achieves the goals of Carbon reduction, Air purification, Edible Garden, Social dynamic and Rainwater management.
