Never Ending: The River of Time

This artwork is a collaborative creation by the students and teachers of the Lighting Pixel Course from the Department of Drama and Theatre at National Taiwan University. Founded in 1928, National Taiwan University was formerly known as Taihoku Imperial University, one of the nine imperial universities of the Japanese Empire, and boasts a profound historical and cultural background. This piece is exhibited in a classroom filled with historical significance, situated within a nearly century-old building constructed during the Japanese era, bearing witness to many historical memories and transformations. The classroom's interior design is simple, retaining the original structures and materials of the walls and floors, exuding a historical atmosphere. Around the room, drafting tables display stage models in various stages of completion, illustrating the details and evolution of each creative process.

The LED lights outline an "N" shape, symbolizing Never Ending, flowing like a river through the space and exploring the traces of time. In this space filled with imprints, it connects the footsteps of scholars from different generations, becoming a timeless symbol that narrates the perpetuity of learning.

Visitors can use a mobile phone flashlight to search and discover every detail within the classroom. The illuminated scenes are transmitted to a computer, processed in real-time, and projected onto the LED installation, forming constantly changing light and shadows that transform moments of exploration into eternal memories. This interactive design not only allows visitors to actively participate in the artwork but also stimulates their curiosity and reflection on history and the creative process.

Throughout the experience, visitors are transported back in time, revisiting the creative stories of this classroom. They become more than spectators; they become part of this river of time, resonating with the memories and creations of past scholars. This piece is not just a static display but a dynamic journey through time, enabling visitors to feel the passage of time and the eternal nature of learning.
