‘Hangeul’ is a unique Korean alphabet created by King Sejong in 1446. ‘Hangeul Proclamation Day’ is a national holiday designated as October 9 to commemorate the proclamation of Hangeul and to encourage the spread and research of Hangeul. In 2024, We designed a poster to commemorate the 578th Hangeul Proclamation Day.

I designed a poster around the theme of writing, the visual symbol system we use to write down human language.

Hangeul combines 14 consonants and 10 vowels to make 11,172 letters. The shape of Hangeul, which consists of circles, squares, and lines, is an interesting and beautiful letter with a unique shape that appears in geometry.

I reversed the word ‘character’ to resemble a letter, and inserted images that evoke the land, water, people, and sky of Korea.
