Light, airy colours, and just the right amount of simplicity, master the balance of interior details. At a glance, the space appears clean and serene, but upon closer inspection, the details reveal chapters of life's journey. Home is the heart of living, a vessel of memories, and a place for creating shared stories and emotions.
Located in the heart of Kaohsiung, this retirement residence for an elderly couple features an open layout with spacious living and dining areas and a three-bedroom design, prioritising the convenience of senior living. The space is planned to cater to the couple's daily needs while also accommodating their grown children and their families during holidays and family gatherings. It is a multi-generational home, offering comfort and a place for three generations to enjoy family time together.
Upon entering the home, you are greeted by a rectangular open-plan area comprising the living and dining rooms. Natural light pours in through large floor-to-ceiling windows, casting beams of light through sheer curtains, creating a striking effect that complements the interior grilles on the opposite side. The predominantly white decor, accented with light wood finishes on the grilles and wall cabinets, creates a clean and bright ambiance, shaping a simple yet inviting home environment.
The home features ample storage space to accommodate the couple's many accumulated items and collections. In the public area, numerous hidden wall cabinets are incorporated, including a sliding door design for the sofa back wall, creating a storage area that functions like a walk-in closet, with the added ability to open, close, and display items as needed. In the dining room, an entire wall of lattice-designed sliding doors cleverly conceals the shrine table, striking a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics.
In addition to hidden wall cabinets, the interior storage includes drawer-style low cabinets. The pull-out design of these cabinets makes it convenient for the elderly to use daily; eliminating the need to frequently squat or reach deep into the cabinets to retrieve items. This thoughtful design ensures ease and comfort for the elderly, enhancing their everyday living experience.
