Located in Guangzhou, a city renowned for its Lingnan culture and rich historical heritage, the project is situated next to the vast Haizhu Wetland Park, which spans over 1,100 hectares and serves as the "Green Heart" of the city. The project seamlessly integrates the vibrant urban environment with the serene beauty of nature, creating a space that celebrates both cultural richness and ecological harmony.
Inspired by both the local culture and the surrounding environment, the design draws from Lingnan cultural elements such as Cantonese embroidery, wood carvings, and ceramics, reinterpreting them in a modern language to create a dynamic dialogue between tradition and contemporary aesthetics. The design also incorporates the essence of the park and the changing seasons, establishing a harmonious connection between urban life and nature. The space is structured around the cyclical flow of the seasons, evoking the seamless integration of nature into the built environment.
The narrative of the design is divided into four thematic acts based on the seasons: Spring, Awakening Summer, Dyeing Autumn, and Raywinter. The first act, "Spring," opens with a grand reception hall, an atrium, and an artistic staircase that guide guests into the space. "Awakening to Summer" features multifunctional spaces, including a book bar, living room, fitness, and yoga areas, designed to energize and engage the senses. "Dyeing Autumn" is characterized by its multifunctional rooms and tranquil tea room, offering a peaceful retreat. Finally, "Raywinter" introduces a refreshing swimming pool, a perfect sanctuary for relaxation.
The project’s design challenges included the creation of original sculptures and art lighting. These works required careful material selection to achieve the desired aesthetic and quality. Extensive testing of different materials was conducted to ensure that each element met the artistic and functional requirements.
In terms of material selection, sustainability was a key consideration. The project utilizes environmentally friendly materials, including recycled fibers, bamboo furniture, and eco-conscious dyes. These choices not only minimize environmental impact but also contribute to the creation of a high-quality, sustainable living space.
