SFEEL Design Hotel Guojin reimagines hospitality through subtractive geometry and fluid social interactions, crafting a space that is both an architectural statement and a dynamic social hub. Designed with an “exhibition-experience” concept, the hotel challenges the conventional static nature of lobbies. Light wood volumes, black monolithic blocks, and stainless steel lines extend from the floor to the façade, forming a continuous visual rhythm. Floating metal frameworks vertically segment the space, introducing both order and disruption. The circulation is deliberately meandering and cinematic, creating moments of anticipation and surprise. A metallic-acrylic reception desk and sculptural lounge installations refract and multiply the perception of space.
The design balances the warmth of wood with the sharpness of metal in a precisely calibrated dialogue. North American white oak, treated with a matte lacquer, retains its natural texture, offering a tactile warmth reminiscent of nature. In contrast, titanium-plated metal inserts pierce through the wooden surfaces, creating a cold, reflective contrast that changes dynamically with the lighting. Material composition is carefully proportioned—wood occupies 70% of the space, establishing a sense of inclusivity, while metal at 30% introduces a futuristic, avant-garde tension. As guests swipe a metal key card across the wooden reception desk, they initiate a multi-sensory interaction, setting the tone for their stay.
A 4000K lighting system flows organically along the wood grain, simulating the gentle diffusion of morning light. At night, suspended spherical pendant lights transition into a warm amber hue, transforming the space into an intimate, glowing installation. Perforated metal screens cast abstract shadow compositions, adding depth and visual intrigue. The walls feature intentionally left negative spaces, becoming evolving canvases where silhouettes, digital displays, and movement create an ever-changing spatial montage.
SFEEL Design Hotel offers more than accommodation—it invites guests to be part of an ongoing spatial experiment. The interplay of materials, light, and design thinking pushes beyond physical boundaries, turning the 30 sqm lobby into a manifesto of contemporary creativity.
Here, the body finds rest in a hotel, while the spirit roams an art museum—where materials compose poetry, and space is a living exhibition.
