About The Entry

This residence is a testament to the transformative power of a single, decisive moment. The design journey began with the client’s instant connection to a slab of ‘Ocean Star’ marble, a captivating stone whose fluid patterns and gold striations inspired a complete reimagining of the space. Originally conceived with a warm, gentle palette, the design pivoted to embrace a sophisticated air of subtle opulence, creating a unique identity for this family home, distinct from the identical floor plan of a relative’s apartment in the same building.

The core concept is a narrative of fluidity. The magnificent ‘Ocean Star’ marble is strategically split, gracing both the dining table and the low-profile media wall, creating a seamless visual flow that draws the eye across the open-plan living area. This emphasis on horizontal expanse, rather than vertical height, fosters a serene, expansive atmosphere. Gentle, sweeping curves are a defining motif, softening the architecture of the TV wall and island, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for the family's young children while echoing the client's preference for the spaciousness of their US home.

Functionality is elegantly woven into the design. A central island acts as a crucial buffer between the entrance and kitchen, providing a practical landing zone that keeps the main living areas uncluttered. An adjacent semi-open study offers a quiet nook for individual pursuits while maintaining connection to the family, embodying a modern ideal of togetherness.

The material palette—combining the star marble with titanium-plated metals, textured metallic laminates, and champagne-gold framed glass—crafts an environment of understated luxury. Built on a foundation of profound trust with a client based abroad, this home is more than an aesthetic achievement; it is a personalized sanctuary where every detail is a thoughtful response to the family’s lifestyle, desires, and the beautiful stone that started it all.
