This project is a three-story detached villa and its indoor space covers 519 m² and outdoor space covers 275 m².Geographically situated in the south of China and in the vicinity of Daxikeng Nature Reserve and Ximao Mountain Forest Park, this project is endowed with preferential natural conditions. Referring to the owner’s opinion, "connection" and “pass-through” were infused as a part of the original room setup, and the original pattern on the first floor was disintegrated and redesigned. The use of connection and pass-through led to the redesigned room setup on the first floor. With the room partitions removed, the hallway relocated, and an immense use of hollow-out and pass-through design techniques, an immense interior openness will be perceived on the first floor. The bathroom on the first floor is properly designed with dry wet separation, the isolated hand-washing area is accessible to the kitchen and entertainment room on both sides, the bathroom has two concealed entry doors leading to the kitchen and entertainment room, an ingenious design to hold the isolated space of the hand-washing area harmless. In addition, some artwork items were intentionally used to improve the perceived elegance of the space. Recesses, cobblestones, paintings and other well-selected ornaments make up an impressive space that shows unmatched creativity and artistic appeal. The interior layout of the first floor was disintegrated and rearranged, and the pass-through design and glass elements were heavily used to hold the spatial relevance of the interior space undisrupted and deliver a perceived interior immenseness that is extended to all directions. As a part of this project, how to re-divide the original space and create smooth traffic flow, ample and broad interior space without compromising the integrity is considered a challenging task. In the course of construction, we try to reduce construction wastes and resort and recycle wastes, to the extent that its adverse impact on the environment would be alleviated to the extent possible.
